Super Fun Time Extreme
Had quite the busy weekend I must say, essentially the last Summer weekend, spiritually at any rate. It’s been a pretty spectacular Summer of weekends, everything from seeing Ani Difranco and Feist, to Fan Expoing it up (putting the final touches on that write-up), plus some exploration of charming Prince Edward County. Some time in Charlottetown, some Casino Shuttle runs to Hull/Ottawa for visiting purposes and some camping too. It closed on a fine note, as Mom and I rented a car and had the weekend to ourselves, spending it mainly in Kingston and surrounding area. Here’s the highlight reel, in chronological order as best I can remember.
- Sent off my grant application to the Canada Council of the Arts.
- Introduced Mom to Carnivale. Unsurprisingly, she wants more.
- Watched the Heroes premiere. Not bad, but too early to tell.
- Caught up with Extras and LOL’d at poor Daniel Radcliffe.
- Found out Dad is headed to India, which is pretty amazing by itself, but I also got a contact for a Tabla maker there! Yay!
- Took in David Tennant’s family tree courtesy of Who Do You Think You Are?
- Downloaded the last of A Bit of Fry & Laurie and started getting the final season of Jeeves & Wooster, both highly recommended BBC productions with the inimitable Hugh Laurie, and the near godlike Stephen Fry.
- Got quite a few free books at the static Gananoque Flea Market.
- Ate a delicious breakfast at King Street Sizzle in Kingston. Portuguese Toast = Winnar.
- Got a bizarre, Mad Max/Barbarian leather vest at Value Village. Possible costume inspiration?
- Purchased the perfect Pat keychain - has a built in Decision Maker!!!
- Started holiday shopping with some stocking stuffers for Adam, Andrea, Ashley and Akyle.
- Saw The Journals of Knud Rasmussen, a compelling film which was being shown oddly enough at the downtown Cineplex in Kingston
- Had a delicious Quizno’s sub. Probably one of the best subs I’ve ever had.
- Watched Little Miss Sunshine at long last, and though I caught myself briefly thinking it might not live up to my expectations, I was more than satisfied when I walked out of the theatre.
- Took a tip from Johanna and watched the first two eps of Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip. I enjoyed it, I think it could have potential, but it may run out of steam for me, dunno.
- Took a drive to Kingston before returning the rental, cranked the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack and had a ball.
- Bought Okami, as promised, so I can support games like this.
- Finally got around to securing a President’s Choice Interest Plus account, where I can earn 4% interest calculated daily on my savings. Sweetness.

Okami was awesome. Please detail your thoughts on Knud Rasmussen. I’d like to hear what you thought of it.

Ani Difranco AND Feist? Wow. It was nice to see you guys at Beanz, sounds like you had a great vacation. I’m on myspace now, let me know what you think of the tracks? http://www.myspace.com/sunseteye

I love Studio 60 - if only the clever writers will keep up with my brain.
