O RLY? YA RLY! SRSLY? SRSLY!
Yum yum yum yum yum! That page I’ve been waiting for, “Patrick there’s a COD for you at the front desk” finally arrived today. Yarrrr!

Here we can see the goods. Sexy little box, shiny metal tin and a mini-CD with the software, manuals, et cetera.

They give you a couple different ‘covers’ for the actual hardware, white, black, light blue and GBA. The big guy is the USB Disk Burner.

Basically you choose the cover you want; I went with the default white DS Lite one, plug it into the USB Disk Burner and you’re ready to start.

Sexy blue LED! Just plug it into any high speed USB port - no additional drivers required. Shows up like an external drive.

You can just drag and drop the ROMs, images, MP3s, movies or whatever into the appropriate folders, or you can start up this here interface where you’re given some advanced options. I needed to tweak said options to get FF3 to work, for instance.

When you’re done, eject the Disk Burner, unplug the actual G6 unit and make sure you’ve put in your Passcard, or else you won’t be able to trick the DS into looking for all these goodies in the GBA slot.

Once the Passcard is put in, pop in the G6 and you’re ready to boot. Note that in the above two pictures I’ve got the PC3 and G6 Lite a bit out of their respective slots for demonstrative purposes. As you’ll see in the next few pics the beauty/elegance of this solution is that nothing’s sticking out, getting in the way or lookin’ ugry.

After booting off the Passcard 3 we get the G6 Main Menu. Lots of options here, DS games, GBA games, movies, even some PDA functionality. I’m still at work, so I’m going straight to the games. A little Mario Hoops 3 on 3 for some smiles.

As mentioned FF3 didn’t work originally, I had to tweak the settings of the software to get it to run, but once it did I locked myself in the bathroom for a good twenty minutes and had at ‘er. I don’t know Japanese, but I do know beautiful, and holy fuck is this game beautiful. My camera however is not. That’s supposed to be a Behemoth, spanning both screens, from the intro. More shots later when I’m actually off work.

Where did you order from? I had no idea there was such a complete copying set for the DS yet.

It’s kinda crazy, isn’t it? I got my G6 Lite from Divineo.ca, they ship out of Quebec. Kicktrading.ca and Gamersection.ca both carry them - though I should tell you the new DS-Xtreme is actually all my 4 Gb G6 and Passcard 3 crammed into a NDS sized cart! http://news.ds-x.com/ for more.

I’m glad I didn’t go after that eBay auction after all now that hopes and dreams of DS-X are on the horizon.
